As Cannabis is going mainstream, both investments and career salary forecasts for the legal marijuana market are on the rise. The legal cannabis market was worth an estimated $7.2 billion in 2016 and is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 17%. Here are some popular jobs in the marijuana industry for 2017

  1. Extraction Technician    

Passion for extracts and fine quality cannabis concentrates and must! Laboratory experience and/or extraction experience recommended, desire to learn and create top quality products required. General duties/responsibilities include winterizing and filtering product with ethanol and processing through vacuum distillation setup, cleaning of workstation and equipment, and filling out applicable production logs and yield reports. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate(s) to learn high-end extraction techniques and refinement. With a average salary around 80-150k

2. Trimmer

This is a lot of work. If you have nimble fingers and a focused mindset this may be the job for you. Trimmers will have to get a badge or similar working requirements in California, Oregon, and Washington. Trimmers can make anywhere from a per lb price (usually done as a group) or get paid somewhere between 12-15 per hour.

3. Cultivation Director/Master Grower

If you grow the dankest dank on the planet earth you may qualify for this position. Master Growers can make anywhere from 120K+ depending on your level of experience and management experience with a large grow. Most companies will want you to be a cannabis expert knowing everything from PH levels in run-off to nutrient deficiencies information.

4. Retail Manager/Dispensary Manager

Do you have experience operating a larger retail store? Do you Management experience? If your answers to these questions are yes then you may be in luck. Knowledge of strains, pain management, plant health may be required.  Dispensary managers should expect to make 70K+ per year.

5. And most common: Budtender

A budtender is the friendly canna-whiz behind the marijuana dispensary counter who guides medical patients and adult customers through the process of understanding, selecting and purchasing cannabis products, such as flower, concentrates, edibles and topicals. Budtenders specialize in customer service and so are not only extremely knowledgeable in the area of medical marijuana, but friendly and compassionate individuals first and foremost. Often times, budtender jobs double as marijuana dispensary receptionist jobs, and vice versa.
